Website Cost Guide
Honest numbers on what a small business website costs in 2026, and what you get at each price.
From $25/mo · $0 up front · Hosting, SSL and SEO included
Anywhere From $0 To $10,000+
A small business website can cost almost nothing or more than a used truck. The price depends on who builds it, how many pages it has, and whether hosting, edits and SEO are included or billed separately.
Here are the four main ways to get a site, and roughly what each one costs a trade or small business.
DIY Builders (Wix, Squarespace, GoDaddy)
Cost: about $20 to $50 a month, plus your time.
Cheapest on paper. The catch is you are the designer, the copywriter and the SEO person. Most DIY sites end up half finished, slow on phones, and invisible on Google. If you have the time and an eye for design it can work. Most busy owners don't.
Freelancers
Cost: about $500 to $3,000 up front, plus hosting.
A good freelancer can build you a great site. The risk is what happens after. Changes cost extra, hosting is often on you, and if the freelancer moves on you can be left with a site nobody can update.
Agencies
Cost: about $2,000 to $10,000+ up front, plus $50 to $200 a month for hosting and maintenance.
Agencies do polished work with strategy behind it. For a mid size company that's often worth it. For a two truck roofing outfit it's usually more than the site will ever earn back.
Website Subscriptions
Cost: about $25 to $150 a month, nothing or very little up front.
One monthly price covers the build, hosting, SSL, SEO setup and edits. It's how AlpinePages works: Starter is $25/mo, Business $49/mo and Growth $99/mo, billed yearly with $0 up front. We build your homepage first so you can see it before you pay anything.
Cost Is Less Important Than Calls
The cheapest site is the one that pays for itself. One extra roofing job, one new cleaning client or one fence install covers years of any of these options. Whatever you pick, make sure it loads fast on a phone, shows up for local searches and makes calling you take one tap.
